Xavier Homecoming's "CALL to Arms"
|
Xavier's
Batch '82, “CALL to Arms” became a blast last November 15, 2007! With the cooperation of
FHM, fantastic performances was made by the HOT and gorgeous ladies who set the
NBC Tent at The Fort to its climax.
Many Xavier Alumni went over to witness the
sizzling night made possible by the people behind FHM and Xavier's Batch 82.
Their registration was high tech because they used scanners and laptops to
confirm the registration of every guests who enter the place. Some celebrity
models of the said men's magazine, namely, Gwen Garci and Miles Hernandez of
hot babes, Maurine Larrazabal and Francine Prieto, was also invited and showed
off little presentation for the said gathering. There were models who ramped
there sexy bodies in front of the audience and the men inside the venue went
hot over the ladies who were only wearing sexy lingeries and accessories.
Besides from the sexy models who ramped the night, the mentioned celebrities
made the men's night colorful. Few games was prepared by the organizers for the
guests to make them alive even at the start of the party. The hired luscious
ladies roaming around inside the Tent were wearing flirtatious outfits such as
micro mini skirts, short shorts, hanging tops and sexy cocktail dress. The most
eye-catching getup that were worn by the ladies was the “Sailor Moon” like
outfit because the skirt of the said getup was to short which allowed the
guests to peek on the ladies bottoms with undies. Since the event had a
cocktail theme, there were tables, looked-like drums, that were scattered
around the place. The waiters were roaming around with the tray carrying foods
on their hands together with canned beers and bottled juice. The foods that
were served really tastes good and though it was just finger foods, you will
feel the satisfaction after tasting it. This event had many sponsors such as
NEO, Citizen, Johnny Walker, Enduranz and many more.
This event will not be possible without the help
and support of their primary sponsors and the presence of the people whom the
event was made for, Xavier Alumni. Fun is always around, you just have to learn
how to handle it in a high tech and modern way.

PR May 23, 2007: Neo Launches New Intel Centrino Processors technology notebooks
|
PHILIPPINES,
Manila, May 23, 2007 – Only weeks after its official
launch, NEO proudly became the country’s first reseller to offer the much
anticipated Intel ® Centrino ® Duo and Intel ® Centrino ® Pro
processor technology locally-branded notebooks.
Available in a plethora of form factors, with designs ranging from fully
loaded, 17-inch wide-screen models ideal for entertainment to tiny,
energy-saving notebook PCs that weigh less than two kilograms, these
next-generation Intel Centrino processor technology notebooks offer faster
processor and chipsets, razor sharp video and graphics, and stronger and faster
wireless connectivity.
Powered by the Intel® Core2 Duo processors,
the new Intel Centrino processor technology notebooks deliver breakthrough
mobile performance and responsiveness for demanding business users and
consumers.
Using these enhanced mobility features, NEO will be first to drive managed
services amongst partners utilizing the new Intel Centrino Pro processor
technology. This technology will extend the same high-level of proactive
security and enhanced manageability support for mobile users that desktop users
traditionally enjoy. “As our customers become increasingly mobile, we are
delighted to be able to provide more value through managed services and support
for businesses that are migrating to notebook solutions,” said Wilhelm
Uy, Business Unit Manager, NEO.
"Operational expense continues to be the most expensive cost that we need
to help IT managers with," Uy said. “The Intel Centrino Pro processor
technology allows IT administrators to remotely manage desktops and notebooks
and better deal with security threats, cost of ownership, resource allocation,
and asset management issues,” he added.
NEO will also be first to market with a number of new benefits and options
available through the local distributors. These include the Intel ® Turbo
Memory feature which enables customers an innovative, optional feature that can
decrease computer start time, speed access to frequently used applications, as
well as improved battery life. Gaming customers can now have advanced graphics
performances with the Mobile Intel® 965GM Express chipset which provides
Intel’s fourth- generation integrated graphic engine, the Graphics Media
Accelerator X3100, and enhancements for clear, vivid video playback.
Furthermore, customers can choose Intel’s optional next-generation wireless
network connection, Intel® Next-Gen Wireless-N for outstanding wireless
performance.
“Our customers for example would be able to boot up with Microsoft Vista in
seconds compared to previous generation products which takes minutes”, said Uy.
“We really believe that next generation Intel Centrino processor technology is
the biggest opportunity for our locally-branded notebooks in a long time,"
Uy said. “Not only have we slashed our time-to-market with the availability of
this product, we have proven our ability to get the Intel Centrino processor
technology notebooks into customers' hands at roughly the same time as the
multinational OEMs, which sell many of the household brands. Furthermore, with
new locally-branded notebook barebones, we are able to present a different
offering – serving the individual needs of small businesses and vertical
customers that multinationals cannot cater for,” Uy added.

Review:
NEO Empriva 630NVP2
Laptop Tester > John Nieves
The NEO 630NVP2 is all business. It's a corporate workhorse at heart, and with
that in mind it works well enough for the corporate workspace. Its features
and capabilities don't make it stand out that much from the pack - who needs
innovation when you already have a formula that works?
The 630NVP2 is your typical work laptop - it has a sleek black body, a nice,
ergonomic keyboard and a relatively large touchpad to work in. It uses a 1.8
Ghz Intel Core Duo processor that allows you to multitask simple operations
like working on documents, instant messaging and the like.
The 14-inch widescreen is surprisingly good, with decent viewing angles for a
laptop LCD. The widescreen LCD is also good for watching DVD movies, with good
color reproduction all around.
The 630NVP2 is powered by an Intel Core Duo 1.8 Ghz processor that allows users
to multitask with ordinary applications such as Internet Explorer, Microsoft
Word, Excel, Powerpoint, as well as viewing DVD movies and such. The 630NVP2
unfortunately isn't that much a powerhouse - don't expect to use it for
Photoshop and movie editing. As with the most laptops, the 630NVP2 has wireless
connectivity, and offers three USB ports for connectivity to other peripherals.
Battery life for the 630NVP2 is about 2.3
hours with the screen brightness in dim and the wireless off - which is pretty
average for this type of laptop. With most of the options on the battery life
drops to about 2 hours - nothing spectacular, but gets the job done.
Probably the greatest drawback of the 630NVP2 is that it's a pretty unremarkable
laptop. Don't get me wrong though - the 630NVP2 offers solid performance at a
competitive price point - it's just that it doesn't really bring anything new
to the table, which isn't bad in itself really.

Review:
NEO Empriva 540NX2
The NEO M54N notebook is one midsize laptop that caters more
to functionality rather than aesthetics.
In terms of ergonomics, it is near-perfect. At 2.3
kilograms, you can barely feel it in your bag. However, I think you may have to
invest in a better looking case rather than one that comes bundled with the
package. The keyboard is sizable enough to use for long periods.
Its mobile Intel 945 GM Express Chipset display may not look
good enough for the demanding games and videos. However, its 14-inch WXGA
generic monitor is wide enough for enjoying movies while taking a break.
The Realtek high definition audio serves its purpose of
providing audio and one can even practice karaoke while waiting for the main
event. The built-in 1.3 megapixel web cam makes chatting and IM-ing fun. I also
liked the 8x Mashita DVD RW that comes with it as it can be handy when backing
up documents of burning your favorite songs and pictures.
One nice feature about this M54N is its processor. This
laptop comes with an Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo at 1.66 GHZ. With a starting RAM
of 504 MB and 80 GB SATA hard disk, it delivers superb mobile performance. This
allows users to easily run demanding applications simultaneously.
A notebook labeled as Centrino Duo when it is made up of the
following components: an Intel Centrino Duo Mobile Technology based on the
Intel Core Duo processor, a mobile Intel 945 Express Chipset, as well as an
Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG. Sadly, all this power is underutilized due to its weak
graphic card.
The bundled operating system Microsoft Windows Media Center
turns this notebook into a mobile entertainment system. NEO users will be able
to enjoy their favorite entertainment such as watch DVD’s, listen to music,
share digital photos, record TV and more. I heard all Centrino Duo are Windows
Vista-ready, so that should be good.
Computing power is further enhanced with its three USB 2.0
ports, S-Video out and 4-in-1 card reader. For connectivity, it is Wi-Fi
enabled and incorporates standard Bluetooth and a Motorola 56K modem just in
case one had to live with the Jurassic telephone. Battery
life lasts for less than two hours.
One major issue in this NEO M54N is the location of the fan.
It can be found at the base of the notebook with a very small ground clearance
and leads to possible heating problems.
For its price and simplicity, the new M54N is an excellent
notebook for the general consumer.

NEO Empriva 670NX2
My shoulder hurts. I am a proud victim of shoulder strap
burn, a condition normally associated with carrying heavy metal attaché cases
with straps. But in my case, it’s because I’ve been lugging around the NEO
Empriva 670NX2 for a week. Yet despite that, I’m still enamored with it – even
after all the physical hurt I had to endure to show it off.
Calling the NEO Empriva 670NX2 large would a big
understatement. It’s enormous. It occupied ¾ of my desk space at home, leaving
just enough space for my USB mouse. In fact, it’s so large that it doesn’t use
the traditional compact keyboard most laptops do. It instead has a full-sized
keyboard complete with numerical keypad. It’s also pretty heavy. There’s a
little space protruding up front that houses a variety of controls – fast
forward, reverse, track skip, play/pause, stop, power and volume buttons.
There’s also a small LCD that shows you the current time and track information
when you play audio CDs and DVDs. Other than that, the NEO Empriva 670NX2 is
like most other laptops – it has a black outer lid and a silver finish inside.
The widescreen LCD display of the NEO Empriva 670NX2 is
pretty impressive and measures in at 17.1 inches. Hardware-wise, its specs are
pretty good – it’s powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7200 (4MB L2
Cache, 2.0GHz, 667MHz FSB) which is accompanied by 1GB 667MHz DDR2 memory and
NVIDIA G71M-U 256MB graphics card. It also has four USB 2.0 ports, DVI out,
SPDIF out and TV input. It can also handle gigabit Ethernet and has an Intel
Pro Wireless card.
The NEO Empriva 670NX2 performs with any task – from
Microsoft Word to games like Warhammer Mark of Chaos. Just as a test, I played
a few rounds of the aforementioned game in the highest resolution with almost
all of the options turned on – something that would bring most desktops today
buckle down – and it performed pretty well with only a few instances of
stuttering. The NEO Empriva 670NX2 is shipped with Microsoft’s Windows XP media
Center which allows you to watch movies, listen to music and even watch cable
TV – all within one interface. It also
has a remote control and USB IR receiver to enhance your Media Center
experience. Sound is good, but could be better as there were times that I had
to move closer to it just to hear the dialogue.
As I mentioned before, the NEO Empriva 670NX2 is a pain to
carry around. And because of its impressive hardware specs, it doesn’t last
long without external juice – battery life is an unimpressive 1 hour and 40
minutes. But since it’s meant to be more of a desktop replacement than a mobile
workstation, it’s not much of an issue.
I’m happy with the time I spent with the NEO Empriva 670NX2,
sore shoulder and all. It’s impressive hardware specs and wealth of features is
sure to impress A/V lovers everywhere.

Brute Force Neo’s Empriva powers
through the pack
FANCY CHASSIS OR not, the thing that counts when it
comes to laptops is the balance between portability and performance, and this
is where the Neo Empriva 540Nx2 takes center stage.
Equipped with a 1.66GHz Core 2 Duo processor, the 540NX2
delivers on your every whim without breaking sweat. Switching between multiple
programs was flawless. Even with six programs (plus Wi-Fi) running
simultaneously, the Empriva showed no signs of slowing down. It’s remarkable
that the 540NX2 managed to sustain this powerful performance for over two hours
without A/C power. When used normally, its battery can go for as long as three
hours.
For internal applications, there’s a lot to be said about
the Empriva. Unlike some previous offerings in the series, the 540NX2 comes
with gigabit Internet connectivity with a built-in webcam and mic-features
perfect for Skype-ers and have heavy surfers. The webcam is especially
noteworthy because it works great indoors. Even a simple lamp-lit desk setup
looked sharp and bright.
Small but extras come aplenty, too. The 540NX2 is equipped
with Wi-Fi a/b/g connectivity, a DVD burner, and a card reader. For the speed
junkie, a mini Firewire ports is also available so video transferring and editing
is a snap.
Of course, not everything is great with this Empriva but its
shortcoming are really just small niggles rather than real grievances. For
starters the built-in speakers are weaker than even those on a Sony PSP. The
DVD drive cover is also fussy. A light graze on the e eject button will send it
flying open.
But as mentioned, laptops are about portability and
performance. And the Empriva 540NX2, with its no-nonsense looks, definitely
wowed us with its desktop like performance. -- Joey Tuazon

NEO Empriva 670NX2 The first thing you’ll notice about the NEO Empriva 670NX2
is its humongous size. With a 17-inch display that’s almost as big as an
ordinary TV screen, you can’t help but marvel at its enormity. And there’s
literally a heavy price for this – the thing weighs a backbreaking 3.8
kilograms.
The laptop’s huge display actually has a purpose that goes
beyond than just showing large avatars when playing your favorite online game
(this is after all a machine targeted for hardcore gamers). Since this model
has a Windows Media Center,
you can use it as a multimedia entertainment appliance. In fact, the unit comes
with a remote control which you can use for playing DVDs and switching channels
when using the laptop as TV set. You won’t miss the fact that this NEO is a multipurpose
digital appliance because of a unique digital panel located on the front side
of the laptop. The brightly lit board resembles those found in most home
appliances, particularly DVD players. Also located on both sides of the panels
are buttons used for power, volume, and playback controls. The notebook is also
big enough to house numeric keyboards. This is certainly a plus for users whose
work involves number crunching.
As for its specs, the Empriva 670NX2 is not at all wanting.
Because it’s intended for gamers, it’s under chassis is made up of hardware
capable of running power-hungry games; Intel Centrino Duo Mobile Technology;
4MB L2 Cache. 2.0GHz, 667MHz FSB; Intel 945GM Chipset; Intel ProWireless 3945
802.11a/b/g; 1GB DDR2 memory; 160GB hard disk drive; NVIDIA G71M-U 256MB DDR3
graphics card; an 8x CD/DVD burner; 10/100/1000Mbps LAN; 3-in-1 card reader.
As I’ve mentioned in my previous laptop reviews, I believe a
laptop should have as standards Bluetooth connectivity, built-in webcam, and a
card reader. The Empriva 670NX2 scores two out of three, with only the
Bluetooth missing.
On the whole, P159, 999 Empriva 670NX2 is a nice appliance
to have if you’re really a fan of large graphics and don’t mind carrying a big
fellow on your back. After all, what you’re getting is not merely a laptop but
also a TV, music component, and a DVD player rolled into one.

www.neo.com.ph
Good on the outside?
This silver 14-incher might not look like much at first
glance, but a second glance just might bring your attention to the P55,
999-price tag. Paying attention now? It’s also got a 1.3MP webcam, Firewire,
Bluetooth, and a card reader, Solid.
The joy specs
A quick look at the spec sheet reveals a spec sheet that
compares with the rest of the pack; 1.66GHz Intel Core Duo, 512MB memory, and
an 80GB Serial ATA Hard drive. The onboard video is downer though, fitting a
measly 64MB memory for the onboard Intel GMA 950 graphics chip. And using the
touchpad is a bit rough, so you might want to take a long mouse.
Stuff says
This mobile PC works hard, but the 64MB video plays like an
old lady. For all its faults, we can’t look away from the small price tag.

NEO Q-Note Empriva
540NX
With Microsoft Windows Media Center software, Intel Centrino
Core Duo processor, and a price tag of P59, 999, the Neo Q-Note Empriva 540NX
is definitely a good deal. For one, Windows
Media Center
is one of the most under rated technologies that hasn’t been fully utilized and
deployed in this part of the globe. It transforms your desktop or laptop into
an instant entertainment machine; you can watch DVDs, record TV programs ala
TiVio, listen to digital music, and even share digital photos. And with a
speedy Core Duo under its hood, what else can you ask for, right?
The Empriva 540NX has fairly decent specs. Its internals are
made up of a 1.66 GHz Intel Pentium M Processor T2300, 512MB DDR2 memory, and
an 80GB SATA hard disk drive. It also sports an Intel ProWireless 3945 a/b/g
for wireless connectivity. Apart from the Media Center,
this notebook is also loaded with Windows XP and Microsoft Works.
Since the Empriva is also meant as an entertainment medium,
it’s only apt that it has a bright 14-inch WXGA TFT display. Complementing this
is its graphic card, an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950. Its 8x DVD-RW+/-
optical drive completes the all-in-one entertainment package.
I love the Empriva’s built-in 1.3 megapixel camera – perfect
for video conferences – positioned just right above the display. A camera with
this resolution is something you don’t scoff at. Located on the sides are the
LAN port, three USB ports, FireWire, S-Video out, and the 4-in-1 memory card
reader, which I find really useful.
The only thing lacking in the Empriva is its Bluetooth
connectivity. Along with a built-in memory card reader and integrated web
camera, I believe Bluetooth should be standard feature in all new laptops.

PR September 29, 2006: Slim and Light NEO Notebooks - Fashion Meets Performance
|
Digital Playground Inc. today introduced three notebook

mobile professionals and sophisticated ladies stay connected and productive.
The NEO Empriva 521GXi, NEO Empriva 510GX and the NEO Empriva 661NX2.
Combining exceptionally low power consumption and thermal
density with enhanced performance features for all the most popular
productivity and digital media applications, NEO Notebook PC has been
specifically designed for the rapidly emerging new generation of mainstream and
ultra-portable slim and light notebooks that enable the simple mobile
lifestyle. The NEO Slim and Light Notebook Series further expands the
boundaries of mobile computing by adding an unprecedented level of freedom and

wireless hotspots.
With the NEO Slim and Light Notebook Series, we see a
tremendous opportunity to expand the overall size of the notebook market by
enabling a new generation of innovative, slim and light designs. Wireless
connectivity, extended battery life, and excellent performance will give people
the freedom to fully enjoy the benefits of the NEO Slim and Light Notebook
Series.
Most conspicuously, NEO Slim and light Units integrate
Intel’s latest Mobile Technology, the Intel Centrino Mobile Technology – a mobile solution that lets you stay connected
when you’re on-the-go and the Intel Centrino DUO Mobile Technology -- a mobile
technology helps you enjoy extended wireless mobility, with new features that
let you connect to most available industry standards-based networks and let you
determine how dynamically your laptop will roam to a new access point.
Thin-and-light notebook PCs have historically had relatively
low graphics performance in order to adhere to the low power and thermal
requirements required in smaller notebooks. However, new technologies and
applications such as high-definition (HD) video and Microsoft Windows Vista
require more graphics processing performance than common integrated solutions
can deliver. The new Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 notebook solutions
deliver excellent performance per watt, enhancing video playback and
accelerating 3D applications within the low power and thermal budgets required
for compact notebooks. Now, thinner and lighter notebooks can be fueled with
